Xiaomi today launched two new Redmi handsets in India: the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3. The latter is oriented towards selfie lovers and features a 32MP shooter at the front.

As for the Redmi 7, it is Xiaomi’s budget handset that will replace the Redmi 6. It features a brand new design that’s similar to the one debuted by the company with the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The rear, however, is made of plastic, with the front being protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Redmi 7 packs a 6.26-inch HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the handset packs a 14nm 1.8GHz Snapdragon 632 chipset, Adreno 506 GPU, with Xiaomi offering the device in 2/3GB RAM variants.

The handset will come with up to 32GB of internal storage along with a dedicated microSD card slot. Other specs include dual-SIM connectivity with dual 4G VoLTE, rear fingerprint sensor, 4000mAh battery, Wi-Fi n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, splash-resistant coating, IR sensor, and more.

The rear of the Redmi 7 houses a dual-camera setup which includes a 12MP f/2.2 aperture primary shooter with 1.25um pixel size and a secondary 2MP depth sensor. At the front, there is an 8MP shooter. The handset runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie.

The Redmi 7 will be available in Comet Blue, Lunar Red, and Eclipse Black colors. The 2GB RAM variant starts from Rs 7999, with the 3GB RAM version coming in at Rs 8999.

Redmi Y3

The Redmi Y3 also has the same specs and the design as the Redmi 7. It just switches the front 8MP camera with a 32MP f/2.25 aperture selfie shooter. It makes use of 4-in-1 pixel binning for more detailed selfies and offers AI portraits and AI face unlock as well. The front camera features EIS and its capable of recording videos in Full HD resolution.

Unlike the Redmi 7, the Redmi Y3 will be available with 3GB and 4GB RAM and with up to 64GB of internal storage.

The Redmi 7 goes on sale from April 29, while the Redmi Y3 will go on sale from April 30th.
